While today the goat-headed idol Baphomet is a recognizable symbol of the occult, its image was born of weaponized Christian dogma, xenophobic attitudes, and a spelling error from the Crusades. The Imagined + The Idol presents both the Baphomet we know and a fictionalized version, constructed from an imagined history less scarred by European colonization. How does a god change when it is not meant to represent an Other, filthiness, or disobedience?
